It was #YOLOdreamtrippin cuz
I’ve been dying to go to Boracay and it was finally it!
Got our flight tickets towards end Jan
and started diligently sourcing for our accommodation.
Air tix was approx $250 per pax via TigerAir to Kalibo.
Departing from Changi Airport Terminal 2
with a mandatory shot at the Sunflower Garden
Our first flight together! ^^
Flight from SG to Kalibo took about 3.5hours
Clouds were so fluffehhhhhh
The moment we touched down at Kalibo Intl Airport,
we exited the airport and were immediately approached
to purchase the Van + Boat tickets.
Got the combi from the company KIATA (seemed like they were the main provider there)
One way trip – Van and Boat tickets 250 pesos
Before we hopped on the van,
we purchased data sim cards from the counter just outside the airport.
Internet worked fine at times
but connectivity frequency on off to the point of pekchek most of the time.
Just be pre amped that both wifi and 3g/4g connectivity on the island can get really bad.
It was another 1.5 to 2 hrs journey by van depending on the traffic conditions.
Traffic conditions may include overtaking another overly utilized vehicle on the road lol
People may find it walau 3.5hrs flight alr still another 2hrs on the road
But the journey by van was an interesting one and there was so much to see!
and to be vain
The 2 hour drive brought us Caticlan Jetty for our boat ride.
We got to experience AIR LAND SEA, all in a day!
Upon arriving at Caticlan Jetty,
we had to pay for the environmental and terminal fee before boarding the boat.
The fees will add up to a total of 175 pesos.
On board the boat / bangka.
It took only 15 mins to get us to Boracay island.
So glad that we brought lightweight bags for the trip!
I’d say, ditch fancy and huge luggage cuz all that transporting and moving around is going to be a hassle.
FYI, accommodations on Boracay are mainly sectioned into Station 1, 2 and 3.
They can be on the white beach / main road of the stations.
The ground we set foot on at the white beach path is allllll sandy. SO. NICE.
Station 1 and 3 are meeting points/ purchase points for the watersports and sea activities.
Station 2 is where the hustle and bustle’s at. More food options, restaurants but also, much crowded than 1 and 3.
We booked Hey! Jude South Beach Hotel and its located at Station 3.
We wanted somewhere peaceful and less packed with people flocking the beach.
Had to take a trike, somewhat like a tricycle but a motorized one,
from the jetty to our hotel. Trikes are the main transportation there and its really cheap.
Station 3 is the nearest to get to from the jetty. Followed by S2, and S1 being the furthest.
Before the sun sets entirely. The setting immediately super romantic
Checked in and had dinner at the hotel.
Dined on the beach by the sea with sand between our toes
the thing about candlelight dinner is that
with the light, you can only see the candle but not the dinner
but darkness equals romantic so OK CAN!!!
All that travelling to get to Boracay took up Day 1!
Bummed and called it a night to prep for day 2!
I had a hard time deciding on a hotel
despite weeks of sourcing & comparing of prices.
I was starting to lose hope in finding
a budget yet modern looking room for 5 nights of our stay.
It was either ridiculously expensive and too atas or affordable and budget but looks super antique and cui.
Seriously MID RANGE like very few
Diligently toggling between tripadvisor and booking sites,
I decided on Hey! Jude South Beach hotel.
Its a relatively new hotel and I find that the interior is way better than the others.
Booked the room direct from the hotel and was given a 15% discount
cuz the room I initially wanted had been fully reserved.
Had to do a Telegram Transfer for the deposit.
I went to Western Union to get it done
A biiiiit mafan but I gien peng the discount so whatever. hahahahaha
Just steps away from the sea!!!
Had initially requested to have the smaller room with just 1 double bed (no view)
(They have rooms with SUNSET VIEW but we didn’t get that)
But the standard rooms were full
so I was offered the Double deluxe with 15% discount
WHY NOT LOR?
If haven’t shower, feet got sand, pls lie down on Bed 1
After showering, clean without sand, can sleep on Bed 2.
Room comes with a Balcony.
It was 500SGD for 5 nights.
250SGD Telegram transferred as deposit.
Remaining 250 paid in person upon check-in
Got up on Day 2 excited for our loooooong day of activities!!
View from our hotel while having our breakfast!
While he had Filipino Tapa for breakie
My so called with minimal make up face LOL
Fell in love with Boracay right away!
Crystal clear waters, white sandy beach & Boracay’s signature sailboats
By far the neatest beach I’ve ever been to
Even the clouds looked perfect
Then there was him
Walked along the white beach path all the way to Station 1
Thing about Station 3 is that it takes a bit of walking to get to anywhere
Clouds have never been fluffier elsewhere
Walked to the highly raved about Jonah’s milk shake along the main road
Deciding on our drinks
Settled with a Mango Fruit Shake and a selfie
On our first night at the hotel,
the staff there recommended a guide whom provided different packages.
we worked out a list of activities that we wanted to do
& he gave us a package price
Itinerary on Day 2 was :
-Island hopping on a private boat (didn’t get to go to crystal cove cuz tides and sea level wasn’t in our favour)
-Snorkelling inclusive of gears
-ATV up to Mount Luho
3500 pesos per pax
They quote based on the number of people doing the activities together as well
More people = Cheaper
We travelled to Boracay on the same day together with
A’s colleague Brandon and his gf Pearlene
They were staying at Station 1 so we met them there and boarded our private boat!
Ready for snorkelling!
Brought my phone down for 1 shot and gave up
The water was really choppy and I had to keep myself alive than to snap away
I find it hard to locate him while we were snorkelling lol
I sometimes think he belongs to the sea
The water was choppy and the tides were pretty strong
For the first time, I thought i’d have died from a lame case of snorkelling
Next stop was a platform in the middle of the sea.
The helmets for helmet diving weighs an elephant
I couldn’t lift it up with both hands.
He’d rather be in the water than on ground
this one MERMAN lai de
Until i summoned him up
Then spits in his mask to anti fog it and jumps back in
Was given a short briefing on the hand signals underwater
Had to descend from the ladder into the water slowly
The helmet (can’t emphasize enough that IT WEIGHS AN ELEPHANT)
will then be placed over your head while descending
Had to make sure we descend slowly WHILE clearing the pressure in our ears
til we touch the ground
CD with underwater pictures and video inclusive in the package
But photos abit cmi hahaha
feeding the fishes with bread
Cuz u can’t see me, I am contestant number 7. Vote for me
Elephant helmet was soooooo friggin heavy
My shoulders were screaming HELP
It was hard to manoeuvre underwater the ground felt prickly due to the dead corals
We weren’t supposed to bend our head to look down cuz then the water will seep right in.
But I spotted starfish on the ground! If stepped on it how!!!
Still, overall a great experience.
My shoulders were sore and bruised after the helmet dive.
Left the floating platform to our next stop!
Back on solid ground
To grab a coffee
& a waffle
Behind every successful man, there is a woman.
& that is me HAHAHAHA
The ATV route up to Mount Luho was fun!
No racing allowed.
& we were practically ON THE MAIN ROAD
Magnificent view from up above!
Overlooking the entire Boracay island
just being an appreciative gf HAHA
Nope, I did not sprain my ankle
Just wanted to be a piggy backed princess ha-ha-ha
They had a mini “zoo” up at Mount Luho
I see what you did there
Saw this really tiny kitten and it was gray
The ground was gray ish too
Camouflaged kitty almost got stepped on by the big guy
Us on our ATVs heading back to base
Back to the white beach!
Snapped a random picture of the Boracay Alcohol Bucket booth
Reference of sea sports prices at the back
Next up was
SOOOO FUN it sent us flying
Towards the evening,
We got on the sail boats for the romantic Sunset sailing!
It was so relaxing with our feet dangling above the water
The end to our Day 2 activities!
Caught the sunset while walking back to our hotel
Gonna use this word again
Showered and left our room again
Walked to Station 2 to explore and to meet B&P for dinner!
Station 2 is a lively place with performances and live acoustic music
Fire dancers doing their thang
Dinner at Andoks.
BBQ meat galore. MEAT OVERLOAD
Marks the end of Day 2 in Boracay!
So blessed to have seen the spectacular views from up above,
to be on the nicest beach,
to have experienced the firsts of different experiences in sea and on land,
to share excitement and anticipation
all with this one very kind hearted man.
K, nuff of mush.
More on the rest of our Boracay Trip soon!
Our cliff jump experience!
